Fresh Harvest Food Bank is committed to serving and supporting the at-risk students in our community. The administrators, teachers, counselors, and social workers who work so hard for these young people every day, have come to look at Fresh Harvest as a valuable resource they can count on year after year.
At-risk students present unique challenges to these professionals. When a school wellness coordinator has a plan to host an empowerment retreat for girls, but knows the girls that need it most will not be able to afford it, she calls Fresh Harvest. When a principal creates a summer school program for struggling students, but knows the children that need it most can’t pay for it, he calls Fresh Harvest. When the teachers from an alternative high school know that students are homeless, have little-to-no family support, and are going hungry every weekend, they call Fresh Harvest. When a social worker learns that a student is living in a car with his mother, she calls Fresh Harvest.
It’s possible for you to make a difference in the life of an at-risk student right now.
~ We are always in need of healthy snacks that get delivered to schools and distributed to kids in need.
~ If you would like to organize a Wellness Pack drive, give us a call. Every week, we give out 50+ Wellness Packs to homeless high school students. These packs contain nutritious single-serve items along with fresh produce.
~ We welcome cash donations to help with the cost of fresh produce.
~ If cooking is your thing, our Hot Meal and Dessert team could use some help. Once each month, we provide a hot meal and dessert to 150 hungry students.
~ Donations are also welcome to help with the cost of providing assistance to an at-risk student facing an immediate crisis.
It has been wonderful for us at Fresh Harvest to have the opportunity to play a small role in the success of these students. We look forward to being here in the future for these trusted professionals that care so much for these kids.
